All-Media Plein-Air Workshops

Become the Slow Eyes of creation by noticing the spirit for the world.

Come and explore the spiritual side of painting. Beginner Painters are welcome. I will help you become the Slow Eyes of creation by painting Plein-Air in commune with nature. That means that we will paint outside on location whenever possible. All my workshops are geared to help you experience a deeper connection with the natural world by exploring the beauty of Santa Cruz County. I will teach you my RIDE, Write & Create System of painting to enhance your connection with the spirit in nature.

You Will Transform Your Painting Skills When You:

  • Learn how to Talk to the Spirit in nature that helps you let go and listen to intuition

  • Learn how to use brief sketches to guide your work

  • Follow valuable handouts for further reflection and study

  • Receive individualized instruction to improve your painting

  • Gain many insights from the end of day group critique

  • Create a short summary sketch of what you have learned

  • Become the Slow Eyes of creation for our own work

  • Feel your expanded awareness with the spiritual while painting.

  • Learn to write a thought or verse that guides the intention of your painting.

Note: Workshops are taught in the Scotts Valley/ Santa Cruz area unless otherwise specified. The actual location will be sent to you by email after you sign up for a specific workshop date.

Student Comments:

“Susan has a great understanding of artistic technique and process, which she loves to share with her students. For new artists just starting out, she teaches confidence and skills to quickly improve your talents. More seasoned artists will benefit from her love of art and willingness to help each person expand their abilities with the many techniques she ahs mastered over the years. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with her and my fellow students!” Derek.
